DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

A Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s databases. They ensure data availability, integrity, performance, and security while supporting business operations and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS)

  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries and indexing

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across systems

  • Perform regular database backups and recovery procedures

  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions

  • Manage user access, permissions, and roles

  • Implement data security measures and compliance standards

  • Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations

  • Collaborate with developers and IT teams to support applications

  • Maintain documentation for database systems and processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of database platforms such as:

    • Oracle Database

    • Microsoft SQL Server

    • MySQL

    • PostgreSQL

  • Proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning

  • Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies

  • Understanding of data security and compliance standards

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
